KUT PhD Scholarships in Engineering for International Students

KUT’s Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was established in 2003 in order to support the advanced research of the university through the contribution of highly capable doctoral students. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected doctoral students under specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting their host professor in his/her research projects.

IRO PhD Scholarships for Developing Countries at K.U. Leuven University

As one of its contributions to development co-operation, K.U. Leuven offers IRO (Interfaculty Council for Development Co-operation) scholarships to deserving students from developing countries to do their PhD in the largest university in Flanders, Belgium.  Each academic year, IRO scholarships are granted for doctoral or pre-doctoral programmes.

MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) for Professionals from Middle East and North Africa

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Scholarship Programme (or MSP) offers scholarships to professionals from ten countries. The scholarships can be used for short courses in the Netherlands with a duration between two and twelve weeks.  The programme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An MSP scholarship is a contribution towards the costs of the selected short course and is intended to supplement the salary that the scholarship holder must continue to receive during the study period. • Has completed an academic degree with far above average results (upper third) and at least two years of related professional experience
• His/her academic degrees should normally not be more than six years old
• For courses in German: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4; at time of application German skills at completed level A2 are required. In addition, German language courses at level A2 or B1 are highly recommended
• For courses in English: IELTS (Band 6) certifi cate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based).

IDB Scholarships for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries

The Scholarship Programme for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries (SPMC) aims to provide educational opportunities for the academically meritorious and financially needy young Muslim students from Muslim communities in non-member countries to pursue undergraduate or first-degree study in a university in their own country or in IDB member countries, in some cases.

The scholarships are given as interest-free loan to the students but grants to the communities to which they belong. After graduation and gainful employment, all graduates are obliged to repay their loan amount to the community (IDB Local Trusts) for recycling and awarding additional scholarships to the local needy students.
The Programme covers all relevant expenses during students’ study period, including tuition fees, health and living costs as determined by the IDB.

To qualify for a UTS, candidates must fulfil all of the following requirements:
·  Your programme starts in September 2014
·  You have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the above mentioned UT graduate programmes between 15 December 2013 and 15 March 2014;
·  You have to include a motivation letter in your application (250 – 500 words), this motivation letter explains: (1) What you have studied in the past; (2) What goal you want to reach through your study at UT; (3) How you plan to receive this goal; (4) Why you particularly choose to study at the University of Twente;
·  You comply with the conditions for obtaining an entry visa in the Netherlands (if applicable).
·  You comply with the general English language test requirement Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills.
·  You are not eligible for a Dutch study grant.
·  You have completed a pre-master at the University of Twente (if applicable).
·  While doing your pre-master programme at the University of Twente, you may already apply for a UTS. However, you must complete your pre-master programme with a CGPA of 7.5 (out of 10) to be eligible for a UTS and comply with above mentioned requirements.
